Writer's Block: Back to the Future @ 04:57 pm

Right now I am annoyingly: content content

Given the choice of time travel, would you go back in time or forward?
It's actually a tough decision. I'd either go back in time to fix as many stupid mistakes as I can (especially in LJ posts) without changing who I am today too much (just enough that I don't have to regret anything that I haven't gained something valuable from), or go into the future and see what I'll regret then that hasn't happened yet and then prevent it.

Of course, I'd end up causing a paradox either way, but I'd much prefer that to having to regret so many things...

Cutie, you are way too hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes, does and says things they regret, and especially so when we're growing up. It is just part of life, and it is part of what makes you who you are, if you got rid of those experiences, you would just end up having to relive them because you wouldn't have learned how to avoid making those mistakes.

You're not perfect. So what? Nobody is. But come on, you wouldn't really blow your shot at time travel on fixing trivial mistakes in your life, when you could be doing all sorts of awesome stuff?

I'd go to the future, personally, the past can be found in the historical record.

Well, if it's part of who I am, I'd rather not be someone who regrets so many things. A few, sure, but not as many as I do...

You did give me an idea when you mentioned history, though - I should also time travel and figure out what really happened in events with conflicting historical accounts; e.g., the beginning of the universe, moon landing, Roswell, and pretty much any murder/assassination case that has conflicting stories, to name a few. (If we can't undo historical events by time travel without causing a paradox, can't we at least solve conspiracies that way? :P )

And if quantum mechanics is taken into account, it would also be a good way to vote - for each candidate, just go into a reasonable amount of possible futures in which they're elected, and then use that to determine who to vote for :D (as I said in the post, I'd also like to prevent most of my future regrets - not the future relative to our past, but the future relative to right now - this way...)
