New Year's resolution progress

←Week 2 Week 4→

Here's how I did this week on my resolution about doing less than 4 stupid things a day on average:

Jan 15:

Jan 16:

(The clear part of the first status bar is 206 pixels wide...and the Sunday before this one, the dark orange part was 113 pixels wide! ;) )
Jan 17:

Jan 18:

Jan 19:

Jan 20:

(The clear part of the second status bar has a width of 668 pixels :O )
(Wait, second status bar? Aw gnat, it's only January and the bottom status bars are already being used! :( )
Jan 21:

Key:
orange - amount of stupid things I did up to that day. Sometimes I lose count, but can come up with lower and upper bounds of how many stupid things I did, so the dark orange represents the best-case scenario while it and the light orange together represent the worst-case scenario.
purple - maximum stupid things I could do up to that day and still keep my resolution (i.e. 4 × number of days into the year - 1). Still hasn't shown up on its own :(
maroon - orange and purple coexisting. A lighter maroon, if it were here, would have the same function as light orange.
The reason there are two graphs for each day is because 1,460 pixels is too wide, so I cut each graph into two 730-pixel-wide graphs.

It's become abundantly clear that I set my goal WAAAY too high.

And here's how I'm doing on the resolution about working an hour a day on one of my semi-creative projects:

Jan 15:

Jan 16:

Jan 17:

(I finally started working on my userpics again! :) )
Jan 18:

Jan 19:

(Back to procrastinating :( )
Jan 20:

Jan 21:

Key:
green: The dark green shows how many days I had worked on one of my projects up to that day. I succeed if it enters the light green area.
red: shows how many days I had procrastinated and/or been too busy up to that day. I fail if it enters the pink area.

At least I finally got back to working for a couple of days!

I think you should only count the stupid things you do in front of other people. I do stupid stuff on my own all the time too, but it's ok, because I'm good at hiding my stupid stuff around other people. Don't go so hard on yourself!

Maybe, but I also need to practice being the complete genius that everyone thinks I am (even if no one else is around). Plus, since I only keep track of how many stupid things I do, not what all of them are (that way, it's easier to remember, especially on days with 30+ things), I can't go back and edit my previous data.

Hey, even geniuses forget to do things or do stupid things. Einstein often forgot to eat or change his clothes when he was doing something Einstein-y. You don't forget those things!

I KNOW, I KNOW. That is why:

A) My goal was less than four stupid things per day instead of no stupid things at all, and
B) Next year, I'll set an easier goal since it turned out this one was too hard.

Blurb

If I had to pick six words to describe myself, I would panic and ask someone for help because I am so downright random and weird that there is no possible way to describe myself or my journal in only six words.

So here's a list of things you'll probably see in this journal, in no particular order:
- Posts about my life
- Posts about my worrying about being disliked for any number of reasons
- Posts about the fact that I'm trying to fix all the things that are messed up in my LJ and DW and catch up on lots of websites that I'm behind on reading
- Backups of my posts on Miiverse now that Miiverse is discontinued... so if you want to know what some random guy was saying about New Super Mario Bros. U or Nintendo Land five years ago, this is the journal for you :P
- Quizzes and surveys and such
- References to random things I'm obsessed with
- Whatever else I feel like posting

Some of the random things I'm obsessed with are:
- LiveJournal (obviously)
- Looking back at things that were made years ago... old posts on LJ, etc.
- Math
- Weird dreams
- Video games (mostly Mario, Super Smash Bros., Kid Icarus, and Chip's Challenge)
- Video game music
- Homestar Runner
- Enya, my favorite singer and biggest celebrity crush
- Too many comics/webcomics to name... Garfield, mezzacotta, Terror Island, and Circle Versus Square might be the ones I'm the MOST obsessed with though. Oh, and Super Mario Maker Crash Course - that counts as a comic, right? It certainly counts as something I'm obsessed with :P
- Speaking of Super Mario Maker Crash Course, my biggest *fictional* crush is Mary O. Yes, I have a crush on the guide to a video game MANUAL. I'm so weird...

For a (hopefully) complete list of interests and Q&A about me, visit my profile. :) (Which is still in need of an update...)

This journal is semi-friends-only, but there's not much rhyme or reason to which entries are public and which ones aren't...
