New Year meme @ 12:31 pm

Soundtrack: Dave Bulmer - It Doesn't Make Sense

Happy New Year everyone!

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Participated in NaNoWriMo for the first and probably last time.

Oh, and possibly talking to Enya online.

And, uh...Do the mock debate in Government class and the speeches in, well, Speech class count?

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My only resolution last year was to get Ours Will You 1-Up back up that year, so sadly, no. I already made my resolutions this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not that I can think of, though forgetmenotcj is going to have another baby.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not that I can think of.

5. What countries did you visit?
None. <sarcasm>I have SOOO many frequent flyer miles.</sarcasm>

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
In no particular order: a girlfriend, a cure for autism, and common sense.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
December 6, 2010, because ENYA MAY HAVE FRIENDED ME ON LJ THAT DAY. AND IF SO, SHE EVEN READ MOYA'S SPACE LOG. AND LIKED IT. AND LINKED TO IT. WHEE!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Well, if Schrödinger's Enya is Enya, writing something that she actually likes would be my biggest achievement of the year. If she's not, then I'd say it was probably designing that logo for my team at the JSC camp. "DUDE! He did that in Paint!"

9. What was your biggest failure?
Probably the fact that I procrastinated stuff too much.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not any more or less than usual.

11. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I can't think of anyone in particular this year. I think this year was too much of a blur of "Ugh, one HAS essay after another..." then "I keep making a fool of myself at JSC :(" then "Senior year has too much homework!" for any particular person to stand out as influential.

12. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Again, I can't think of anyone in particular unless the Burger King manager in this news article counts.

13. Where did most of your money go?
School snacks again. Yay.

14. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
SCHRÖDINGER'S ENYA.

15. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Any Moya or Clannad song.

16. Compared to this time last year, are you...
i. Happier or sadder? Probably sadder.
ii. Thinner or fatter? 'Bout the same.
iii. Richer or poorer? I don't know for sure, but probably poorer given the economy.

17. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working on my various semi-creative projects like userpics, MSL, and OWY1U.

18. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Just like last year, homework (though that would only work if I had less homework).

19. How did you spend Christmas?
The usual way - Mom, Dad, pathvain_aelien, ellaina02, Stephen, Nace & I open presents at our house and then our whole extended family visits at my aunt Cheryl's house.

20. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Since possibly meeting my long-standing celebrity crush who's 32 years older than me and lives in Ireland online doesn't exactly count, no. :(

21. How many one-night stands?
Sever your leg, please.

22. What was your favourite TV programme?
X-Files!

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.

24. What was the best book you read?
The Ghost Downstairs by Molly Ringle. And I'm not just saying it because it was the only book I finished reading this year - it's pretty awesome, too.

24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
There are two #24s!
Anyway, Moya and Clannad. It was like discovering five more Enyas (even if only three are women).

25. What did you want and get?
see here and here. And Enya, sort of.

26. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
In addition to the usual just-opening-presents-and-having-cake, I also went to Video Games Live as part of an early birthday present. I turned 17.

27. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
LESS. HOMEWORK.

28. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
I...don't care whether or not I have a personal fashion concept?

29. What kept you sane?
Sane? You're kidding, right?

30. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I'm sure by now I don't have to tell you. I'll give you a hint though: her name's an anagram of "Eyna." :P

31. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't get involved in politics that often.

32. Who did you miss?
J.R., one of my friends from school who moved this year.

33. Who was the best new person you met?
This is a tough one. There are a couple of new guys at school this year (though one of them left too), and I met some new people at the JSC camp, but I can't pick just one as the best new person I met (especially since I didn't get to know most of them that well). But if people I meet online count, then it's...you know the rest.

34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
Don't worry about the negative fifth of the month - in six days, everything will be normal again. When all of the days get stacked on top of each other, look ahead to all of the blank spaces.

(What? Can't I make metaphors based on glitches in my Martian calendar program for HAS?)

35. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
It doesn't make sense, it doesn't make sense
If you understand this, then you're mad
It doesn't make sense, it doesn't make sense
And your singing is also quite bad

Dave Bulmer, It Doesn't Make Sense

(It's not always that I think of something as poetic as I did in #34, okay?)
